In order to submit links you have to register.
-
We don't share your registration information (email address, etc) with
anyone.
-
We do collect some information, such as your IP Address, in order to
identify you when you're on the site and when you return. That information
is stored on our servers and may be shared with partners or suppliers so
that they can do things like put ads on our site. However, that information
isn't linked to your personal information. And we don't share your personal
information with anyone.
-
We do set cookies on your computer. But so does practically every other
site out there. Why do we set cookies? First, to identify you when you
return. Second, to prevent you from voting multiple times on polls (so don't
go deleting those cookies just so you can vote for myfavoritefishingsite.com
a million times). Third, for reasons only technical people can fathom.
Finally, our advertisers sometimes store and access cookies on your computer
in order to track who sees what ad. The short story is, we set cookies to
help the site run better and to improve your user experience. We don't do
anything malicious with those cookies. Besides, we prefer Oreos.
-
Oh yeah. We also set a cookie to track how often you come to the site.
This thing is sometimes referred to as a web beacon. This is just a way for
us to prove to our advertisers and sponsors that we have visitors and those
visitors keep coming back. Again, those cookies and the traffic are in no
way linked to you or your personal information. And did I mention we don't share your personal
information with anyone?
-
If you prohibit us from setting cookies on your computer (it's a setting
in your browser) then don't complain to me if the site doesn't work right. I
know this sounds a bit crass, but I don't have the time or inclination to
configure this site to work under every possible browser configuration. This
site runs reasonably well under Internet Explorer and Firefox with standard
"vanilla" settings.
-
The administrator of this site is the only one who can access your
registration information. Admin access is greatly restricted. Moderators, other
folks who I trust to help run the site, do not have access to your
registration
information.
-
When you register, you can change the settings that allow people to see
information in your profile. You also have the ability to manage your
profile (click on the Options link after you've signed in) so you can keep
it up to date and also manage who sees what information. If you want to keep
your personal information private, Don't share it! Limit what
information is shared via settings in your profile and don't put any
personal information in the comments you leave about a particular website.
-
On that last point, you need to take steps to protect your own privacy
-- Don't share your email address in a comment, don't share your real name
in a comment, refrain from making your username the same as your real name,
etc. You're smart. Don't do dumb things.
-
I will use your registration information to conduct the business of this
website. What that means is I may contact you from time-to-time about your
membership, your registration, your conduct on the site, to help you with a
problem, etc. Don't be surprised if you hear from me. That being said, I
don't share your registration information with anyone.
-
If anything in this Privacy Policy gives you the willies, then perhaps
you shouldn't use this site.
-
Tight lines.
